- Chili garlic sauce – We picked up Trader Joe’s Crunchy Chili Onion sauce. Huy Fong Chili Garlic Sauce or Mishima Chef Troy’s Recipe Crunchy Garlic Chili Sauce would work for this recipe as well.
- Soy sauce
- Sesame oil
- Garlic
- Peanut butter – We used a creamy natural peanut butter, you can use crunchy but the creamy melts very well into the sauce.

How to make this recipe for chili garlic noodles
Cook pasta. Bring pasta to a boil in a large skillet. Cook to al denté in salted water. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, drain and set aside.
Make the sauce. Melt butter in hot skillet. Add sesame oil and garlic, sauté until fragrant. Add peanut butter, stirring as it melts. Whisk in soy sauce and chili garlic sauce until well combined.
Stir in the pasta. Return pasta to pan with sauce, stirring to coat pasta. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.

What is chili garlic sauce made of?
Chili garlic sauce is a spicy condiment made with an oil base. It’s ingredients include dried garlic and onions, crushed chili peppers, paprika and other seasonings (depending on the brand you buy).
Is chili garlic sauce hotter than Sriracha?
Not usually, sriracha has a much higher concentration of chili peppers and less seasoning. Sriracha has a much stronger vinegar taste that a chili garlic sauce.

Chili Garlic Noodles
Ingredients
- 1 pound long pasta (such as spaghetti)
- 2 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 4 garlic cloves (minced)
- 2 tablespoons peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons chili crisp + more for serving
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- Green onions
- Sesame seeds
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package directions for al denté. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, drain and set aside.
- Heat butter and sesame oil, then add garlic until fragrant.
- Whisk in peanut butter, chili crisp and soy sauce.
- Return pasta to pan, stir fry until sauce has absorbed and noodles have browned slightly.
- Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds
