A couple bowls of spicy fusilli pasta with italian sausage.

What we love about this spicy sausage pasta recipe

  • This recipe is made in one pot! It’s a super simple recipe, that really does not need much attention.
  • You can easily customize the heat with this recipe, just use a mild Italian sausage to tone it down. You could even skip the red pepper flakes as well, if you are looking to enjoy these savory flavors without the spice.

Ingredients you might need to pick up

  • Fusilli pasta – This spiral shaped pasta is often confused with rotini, and you can use rotini if you have it.
  • Spicy Italian sausage – We used ground Italian sausage, you can purchase sausage links and remove the casings and the recipe will work the same.
  • Tomato paste
  • Crushed tomatoes
  • Chicken stock – This adds an additional level of flavor, boiled right into the pasta.

Making changes to a recipe can result in recipe failure. Any substitutions listed below are simple changes that I believe will work in this recipe, but results are not guaranteed.
