1 pound ground spicy Italian sausage (casings removed if needed)

1/4 – 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

3 garlic cloves, minced (about 1 tablespoon)

2 tablespoons tomato paste

1 15-ounce can crushed tomatoes

2 teaspoons dried basil

2 cups chicken stock

2 cups water

1 16-ounce package fusilli

Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- In a large dutch oven over medium high heat, brown the sausage.
- Once the sausage is cooked through, stir in minced garlic, tomato paste and red pepper flakes.
- Add crushed tomatoes, chicken stock, water, pasta and basil.
- Cover and bring to a boil.
- Lower heat and simmer until pasta is tender.
