Spicy Sausage Pasta

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground spicy Italian sausage (casings removed if needed)
  • 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced (about 1 tablespoon))
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 15- ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 16- ounce package fusilli
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a large dutch oven over medium high heat, brown the sausage.
  • Once the sausage is cooked through, stir in minced garlic, tomato paste and red pepper flakes.
  • Add crushed tomatoes, chicken stock, water, pasta and basil.
  • Cover and bring to a boil.
  • Lower heat and simmer until pasta is tender.
